We woke up to a beautiful morning in Conway Arkansas. Jayne, Jimmy, Noelle, myself and the girls slept great in the camper. Dad and Ryan slept inside. We didn’t ask about the HOA policy with regards to sleeping in the street (or dumping sewage in the storm drain). Let’s assume it’s a don’t ask, don’t tell situation.
Everyone slept in a little bit, especially the girls, but when Noelle reminded the girls that their cousins Anna and Emma were inside, they immediately jumped up.
The Hodgson girls attacked the Coker girls, going into full baby sitter mode. They love real life baby dolls.
Kevin and Becky whipped up a great breakfast of eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls and fresh squeezed Sam’s club orange juice. Definitely hit the spot.
We spent most of the rest of the day hanging out on their back patio enjoying the sunny weather. Becky setup a stem activity for them – soap making kit. I’m sure that skill will come in handy later in life. We brought a soccer ball and girls played together a little then Ryan and I took turns trying to kick balls past Lydia the goalie. Becky was only slightly annoyed when we blasted some good ones into her nice wooden fence.
After relaxing for a bit, Becky then put us to work. They have a nice sun shade that straps up to give shade for the whole patio. It was a complex mechanism consisting of some carabineers and turnbuckles and required precise engineering and teamwork to install correctly.
I tried to find a miracle rv repairman to look at the weird sounds the rv was making yesterday. No-one is working on memorial day weekend. We’re probably going to send it and pray she holds together. We made one last run for supplies – filled up gas tanks on Kroger gas and Ryan picked up a woman’s day pack, a water carrying bag, and some new bike shorts. Hope he also bought a stick to beat the ladies off on the trails. He also acquired and installed some valves for their sprinkler system. Good work Ryan.
Grandpa also took some time to teach valuable lessons to his grandkids on the proper technique for riding a rollercoaster safely. Thanks grandpa!
For dinner we had a fantastic Boston butt that Kevin smoked all day with deviled eggs, corn on the cobb, and baked beans. We’re really having to rough it on this camping trip so far. I don’t know why the Oregon trail pioneers complained so much – this is easy.
Dinner also had one other huge surprise. Victoria’s tooth that was hanging on by a thread came off while she was chewing. She’s now a snaggle tooth for the rest of the trip. Do tooth fairies visit rvs? Guess we’ll find out tomorrow…
We’re heading to bed early today. Got a 12 hour drive early and we’re trying to leave first thing. We had a great time with family that we don’t get to do nearly enough. Need to work on finding more time on our busy schedules doing things like this that we’ll look back on years from now and treasure. Thank you for being excellent hosts Becky and Kevin!
I’m loving this! Thanks for letting me join your family adventures!
